From the very beginning,
I have loved you with all my heart.
You were introduced as my father,
an eternal bond that can never be torn apart.

We have had our share of rough times,
and I have always stood by your side.
No matter what the situation,
and no matter how badly you've wanted to cry.

Now time is passing rapidly,
and daddy's little girl is growing up.
Uncertain of what the future may hold,
living in a world that is so corrupt.

Gone are the days of pigtails,
and wishlists full of toys.
Instead we're trying to keep up with fashion,
and trying to impress all of the boys.

No longer do they have cooties,
I'm starting to look at them in a whole new light.
There'll be a couple wrong ones,
before I find the one that's right.

I've made it all the way to high school,
onward without looking back.
Taught to stand tall,
even when against me all the odds were stacked.

It's my senior year of high school,
with aspirations to go on.
I'll be leaving soon for college,
it'll be a little different once I'm gone.

No more phone calls from friends in the morning,
when you're fast asleep.
No more messes in my room,
no more complaining about the heat.

It's not goodbye forever,
I'll be home every now and then.
But don't be surprised,
if every time I bring home a brand new friend.

I know you want me to stay at home,
at least for the first year.
But sometimes you have to follow your instincts,
even if it's telling you to do something you fear.

You know I'm a strong person daddy,
I have handled more than my share.
Please trust in my decisions,
and know that I'll handle my life with care.

Everyday I'll be faced with new temptations,
but I have been taught right and wrong.
I have been taught to do what is right,
so I can make it home safely where I belong.

The days of pretend are hidden deep in our memories,
but the childhood innocence still remains.
Physically and mentally I may be maturing,
but deep down your little girl is still the same.
